Gas Chamber
The condemned inmate is strapped onto a chair, that is over top a pail of sulfuric acid. A long stethoscope is attached to the inmate, so the execution team can pronounce the inmate’s death when they are outside the room. When this is done, the execution team leave and seal the room. They pull a lever that releases crystals of sodium cyanide into the pail. This causes a chemical reaction that releases hydrogen cyanide gas. The inmate is told to take deep breathes to speed up the process.
